Sir Edmund Hilary didn’t reach the top of Mount Everest by himself – Tenzing Norgay was his climbing partner for the final push to the summit and they were well supported along the way. We all do better for longer with a support of a team. This old African proverb explains perfectly:

‘If you want to go fast, go alone, but if you want to go far, then go together.’

I absolutely love being around young people who want to make a positive difference, and like plenty of ‘older’ people, I want to help you achieve your dreams and goals by sharing my wisdom and experience. It’s great to have a range of people of all ages around you for this reason – they all have the desire to see you reach your potential.

For those of you still living at home, your family will probably be your greatest cheerleaders. If this is not possible, you will need to be prepared to go it alone until you can gradually surround yourself with people who believe in what you’re doing.

My husband Simon and I started a business when I was 22 years’ old and he was 26. Most of our friends didn’t understand what we were doing, and nor did our families, except for my mother – her support made a big difference.
